There is provided an indoor unit of an air conditioner which is able to prevent dew condensation on upper and lower vertical wind direction plates. When a cooling operation is started, control means of the indoor unit 1 of the air conditioner causes a lower flap (200) to tilt counterclockwise to abut on a lower stopper (260) first (S1), causes the lower flap (200) to tilt clockwise to stop in a fan casing (60) (S2) subsequently, then causes a front flap 100 to tilt counterclockwise to abut on a front stopper (160) (S3), causes the front flap 100 to tilt clockwise to stop the same in the fan casing (60) subsequently (S4), and arranges the lower flap (200) and the front flap (100) smoothly so as to form a substantially identical curved surface even though there exists a gap between terminal ends.
