Abstract

The invention provides a method and a system for partition charging for a wireless local area network (WLAN). The method comprises that: an access point (AP) receives an authentication request of a user terminal and searches a service setting identifier (SSID) of the partitioned area in which the user terminal is positioned; a VLAN (virtual local area network)-ID corresponding to the SSID is acquired, and an authentication request containing the VLAN-ID is sent to an access controller (AC); the AC acquires an attribute field of an RADIUS protocol message corresponding to the VLAN-ID, and sends an authentication request containing the attribute field to an authentication system; the authentication system generates a charging ticket, acquires an attribute field of the charging ticket corresponding to the attribute field of the RADIUS protocol message, and sends a charging ticket containing the attribute field of the charging ticket to a charging system; and the charging system performs charging according to a corresponding relationship between the attribute field of the charging ticket and the charge. The invention can efficiently perform partition charging for the WLAN under the condition of not changing the conventional WLAN equipment.
