Embodiment Construction

[0028] The present invention relates to a unit 1 for performing geotechnical material tests on samples of rocks, soil or manufacturing materials in particular at the sampling site. It may involve a test unit that only allows simple compression tests or a triaxial test unit.

[0029] The unit 1 includes at least one piston 4, 5 for subjecting the cylindrical specimen 2 to a stress directed along the longitudinal axis of the specimen 2.

[0030] Furthermore, the unit 1 has a device 7 for shearing the sample, which device is capable of cracking the sample when the sample 2 is compressed by the at least one piston.

[0031] The advantage of the present invention is that cracks are formed when the piston 4, 5 compresses the sample.

[0032] Therefore, in the case of a triaxial test, after the formation of a crack, a permeability test can be followed, for example, under different confining pressures, in order to particularly study the healing (cicatrisation) of certain materials or the frac...

Abstract

The invention relates to a cell (1) for testing geomaterials on cylindrical specimens (2), of rock, ground or materials manufactured on sampling sites, comprising at least one piston (4, 5) for subjecting a specimen to a stress directed along the longitudinal axis of the specimen (2). According to the invention, the cell has, in addition, means (7) for shearing the specimen, capable of cracking the specimen while it is being compressed in said at least one piston.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a triaxial unit for geotechnical materials (géomatériaux) tests on cylindrical samples, especially rock, soil or manufacturing materials, at a sampling site. [0002] In particular, the unit allows at least to subject the sample to simple compression or to subject the sample to a triaxial test. Background technique [0003] In the field of geotechnical materials, three-axis units are known, for example, as described by the document FR-2.663.121, which allow cylindrical specimens to be subjected to different pressure, loading, temperature and drain conditions. To this end, the unit and sample are equipped with various sensors, such as pressure sensors, temperature sensors, and displacement sensors. [0004] The triaxial unit generally includes a unit main body with an internal cavity forming a sealed room, and a cylindrical sample is vertically placed inside the sealed room. The hydraulic circuit used for pressurization or cont...
