Embodiment Construction

[0010] Details are used here to describe the subject matter of the present invention to meet legal requirements. However, the description itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. On the contrary, the inventor envisages that the claimed subject matter can also be embodied in other ways in combination with other current or future technologies to include different steps or a combination of steps similar to the steps described herein. In addition, although the terms "step" and / or "box" may be used herein to indicate different elements of the method employed, unless and only if the order of the various steps is clearly described, the term should not be interpreted as meaning Follow any specific order among or between the various steps disclosed herein.

[0011] Embodiments of the invention generally involve extracting assertions from documents and reversing the assertions to generate corresponding questions that can be answered by the extracted assertions. When anal...

Abstract

The invention discloses ontological categorization of question concepts from document summaries. Electronic documents are analyzed to identify assertions, which are inverted to generate questions that may be answered by the assertions. A document or a corpus of electronic documents may be analyzed to identify entities and relationships among entities within the text of the document(s). Assertions are identified based on the entities and relationships among the entities. Each assertion represents a fact about an entity, and a group of assertions represents a summary of the document or document corpus. The assertions are inverted to generate questions that may be answered by the assertions. The questions may be further analyzed to identify relevant concepts and topics and to cluster the questions around the concepts and topics. A combined graph may also be generated that facilitates traversal among topics, concepts, questions, assertions, document summaries, and documents.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to search technology, in particular to classification technology in search. Background technique [0002] Although computer systems can store large amounts of information, users often find it difficult to find specific information or effectively explore specific topics of interest. Information about events or topics is usually distributed across multiple electronic documents, which may be stored in different locations. As a result, assertions about facts about events or topics are usually distributed across multiple documents, making it difficult to gather and form coherent knowledge units about the event or topic. In addition, even when facts about events or topics are identified, they are usually not organized into meaningful clusters to form a higher level of understanding and representation. When trying to clearly express the topics and question categories that can be answered by the electronic document corpus, this poses...
