System and method for translating timed text in web video

Abstract

The present invention relates to translating timed text in web videos. In a first embodiment, a method automatically translates timed text of a web video. The method includes receiving a request from a client to identify a web video. In response to the request, a timed text track of the web video is retrieved from the timed text database. Each timed text track in the timed text database designates text to be displayed at a particular time in the video. Automatically translate text from a timed text track into the target language. Finally, the translated text is sent to the client for display with the web video.
