Problems solved by technology

[0010] But the production of an embodiment with four sonotrodes mounted on the shaft is complex and expensive
Furthermore, the sealing surfaces of the four sonotrodes can only be vibrated with high energy consumption via the drive shaft
Therefore, the structure shown in US 6 574 944 has not been successful in practice

Embodiment Construction

[0050] figure 1 shows a perspective view of a first embodiment of a sonotrode according to the invention, while figure 2 Its side view is shown.

[0051] Two horns are formed on both sides of the sonotrode. The sonotrode has a substantially roller-shaped core 2 on which are formed two diametrically opposed rods 3 extending radially outward beyond the surface of the roller. The rods 3 each have a respective sealing surface 4 which, in operation, is intended to come into contact with the web to be treated. The respective shaft portion 5 adjoins the roller-shaped core 2 axially in both directions.

[0052] The sonotrode has a length a. Adjacent on both sides are two horns with a length e. The horn can be integrally formed with the sonotrode. It should be understood that it is also possible to use only one horn.

[0053] The converter can then be mounted axially at one of the horns. During operation, the sonotrode rotates around the axis b. Ultrasonic vibrations are tran...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a sonotrode for a device for continuously treating material webs by means of ultrasound. In order to provide a sonotrode or an ultrasonic treatment device having a sonotrode that is simple to produce and ensures reliable transverse sealing seam generation, wherein the energy consumption of the sonotrode is low and the sonotrode also comprises high runout precision and sufficient rigidity, the invention proposes that the sonotrode is made of a substantially roller-shaped core and at least two bars, wherein the bars extend in the direction of the core axis and each comprise a sealing surface facing away from the roller-shaped core.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device for the continuous treatment of a web with ultrasound and a sonotrode for the device. Background technique [0002] Ultrasound is mechanical vibration above the audible limit. The frequency range starts at about 20 kHz and extends to frequencies of 1 GHz. Such ultrasonic frequencies are typically generated from electrical energy by piezoelectric acoustic transducers (transducers). This mechanical vibration energy is applied to the workpiece or material to be processed by a sonotrode connected to a transducer, possibly through an amplitude transforming member (also called an energizer). [0003] The surface of the sonotrode intended to come into contact with the material to be processed is also called the sealing surface. The vibrating unit therefore consists of a generator, a converter, an optional horn and a sonotrode. For multiple use cases, the transducer and sonotrode are formed as a single piece. [0004] In ...
