Embodiment Construction

[0022] In order to monitor the environment, the figure 1 In this exemplary embodiment, a sensor network with a plurality of sensors is provided, wherein sensors 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 are reproduced by way of example. Each of the sensors comprises a detection unit for detecting acoustic signals in the form of a microphone 5 and a corresponding analog-to-digital converter 6, which converts the signal detected in analog form via the microphone into a digitized Signal. The digitized signals are processed by a microprocessor 7 , wherein the microprocessor also takes into account the signals of other adjacent sensors during processing, as will be explained in more detail below.

[0023] The individual sensors 1 to 4 communicate with one another wirelessly, wherein for this purpose each sensor has a corresponding radio module which receives or transmits signals wirelessly via a schematically shown antenna 9 . Overall, the sensors form a decentralized network N, which is schematically rep...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for monitoring a vicinity using a plurality of acoustic sensors (1, 2, 3, 4), which form a decentralized net (N), in which the sensors (1, 2, 3, 4) communicate with one another, at least in part, wherein the respective sensors (1, 2, 3, 4) register acoustic signals based on noises in the vicinity, and reprocess the registered signals to conduct a situation recognition. According to the method of the invention, a respective sensor (1, 2, 3, 4) of at least some of the sensors (1, 2, 3, 4) accesses, via the decentralized net (N), the registered and/or reprocessed signals of one, or several, adjacent sensors (1, 2, 3, 4), and takes these signals into account for the situation recognition, wherein an adjacent sensor (1, 2, 3, 4) registers signals, which, at least in part, are based on the same noises as the ones registered by the respective sensor (1, 2, 3, 4).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for monitoring an environment with a plurality of acoustic sensors and a corresponding acoustic sensor network. Background technique [0002] In order to recognize unusual situations such as panic or violence or medical emergencies in public environments such as train stations or stadiums, optical sensors in the form of surveillance cameras are currently commonly used. In this case, the environment is mostly monitored manually by security professionals who view and evaluate the data of the optical sensors in a central control station. Because of the large amount of data that is monitored in large environments, long time intervals may elapse until a dangerous situation is identified. Also, abnormal conditions may not be perceived at all due to human error. [0003] Automatic monitoring methods based on optical sensors with integrated situation detection are also known from the prior art. This method has the disadvant...
