Problems solved by technology

[0006] However, if signals are being received from multiple interfaces, a problem may arise where the controller associated with multiple interfaces uses a single jog status field to determine whether to perform a machine jog
In this case, it may happen that a jog signal is received from interface #1 followed by a non-jog signal from interface #2

[0030] Overview of multi-jog button operation

[0031]As explained in the background, conflicts may arise when multiple interfaces are employed to interact with the controller. For example, a controller may be being employed to control a single operation on a machine (e.g., a machine jog operation), but multiple sources (e.g., interfaces) may equally serve the request to generate the operation, so a request from one interface The first request can then be overwritten by a second request from a second interface, where the first request and the second request are inverses of each other, e.g. a request to perform an action is received from the first interface and a request to perform no action is received from the second interface request, where the second request overrides the first request, and a request to perform an action is not received from either the first interface or the second interface as long as the controller is involved. In various non-limiting embodiments, a jog ...

Abstract

Systems and methods are provided to facilitate correct execution of a machine jog operation, wherein a plurality of interfaces can generate a machine jog command, which is received by an industrial controller. One or more machine jog commands can be received and state data is maintained regarding whether a machine jog command has been received. An OR gate logic operation is performed on the state data to determine whether a machine jog operation has been received from any of the plurality of interfaces, and in the event of receiving a machine jog operation, a control command is generated to effect a machine jog operation. The plurality of interfaces enable interaction with the controller, to facilitate control of a machine from a plurality of locations. The system can be expanded to include further interfaces. Also, information regarding a machine jog command can be published to the plurality of interfaces.

Description

technical field [0001] This specification relates generally to control systems employed in the context of industrial automation and, more particularly, to controlling the operation of a machine jog process. Background technique [0002] As with other operating environments, computer systems have found many applications in industrial automation environments and can find ubiquitous adoption throughout, for example, to control the operation of devices, machines, processes, and the like. However, instead of entering commands through a single interface, the scale of the operation being controlled may require the operator to be at multiple locations (e.g., an operator station) to facilitate full understanding as the machine runs its series of operations according to the process requirements being directed and operate the machine. [0003] For example, cooling chamber molding machines with clamping forces rated in the thousands of tons can be of considerable size, requiring the op...
