Embodiment

[0091] CLAIMS 1. A method, performed by a wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU), of applying carrier aggregation to operate in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, the method comprising:

[0092] Receiving a Physical Downlink (DL) Shared Channel (PDSCH) on a DL Component Carrier (CC) of a specific serving cell during cell-specific active time; and

[0093]The Physical DL Control Channel (PDCCH) is monitored for DL allocations for a specific serving cell during cell specific active time.

[0094] 2. The method of embodiment 1, wherein the DL CC is associated with an uplink (UL) CC, and the PDCCH is also monitored for UL grants for the UL CC.

[0095] 3. The method as in any one of embodiments 1-2, wherein the PDCCH is monitored in at least one search space specific to a particular serving cell.

[0096] 4. The method as in any one of embodiments 1-3, wherein the PDCCH is located on a DL CC of a serving cell other than a specific serving cell.

[0097] 5. The method as in a...

Abstract

A method and apparatus are disclosed for operating a wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode employing carrier aggregation. In one scenario, a physical downlink (DL) shared channel (PDSCH) is received on a DL component carrier (CC) of a particular serving cell during a cell-specific active time, whereby the DL CC is associated with an uplink (UL) CC. Then, a physical DL control channel (PDCCH) is monitored for DL assignments for the particular serving cell, and UL grants for the UL CC, during the cell-specific active time. In another scenario, a first subset of CCs is configured for PDCCH reception, and a second subset of the CCs is not configured for PDCCH reception. DRX is applied to at least one CC in the second subset based on a PDCCH active time of at least one of the CCs in the first subset.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 218,172, filed June 18, 2009, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 233,641, filed August 13, 2009, which are hereby incorporated by reference, As fully described in this article. technical field [0003] This application relates to wireless communications. Background technique [0004] Discontinuous reception (DRX) operation in Release 8 (R8) Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems is defined by the Medium Access Control (MAC) 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specification. This functionality consists of a set of rules that define when (i.e., in which frames) the network (i.e., an evolved Node B (eNB)) can communicate to the wireless transmit / receive unit ( The WTRU) sends control information containing downlink (DL) assignments and / or uplink (UL) grants (ie, shared channel dynamic assignments). The WTRU receives eNBDL assignments and / o...
