The present invention combines a data processing structure with a graphical user interface (GUI) to create an information analysis tool wherein multiple functions are combined in a network to extract information from multiple data sources. The functional network is created, and graphically represented to the user, by linking individual operations together. The combination of individual operations is not limited by the input or output characteristic of any single operation. The form of the input to or output from a by individual operation, whether from a database or from another operation, is the same. That is, both the input to and the output from an analysis function is a list of document identifiers and corresponding document characteristics. Because the form of the input and output from each operation is the same, arbitrary combinations into of operations may be created. Moreover, functional networks of individual operations can then be used for database retrieval as well as to filter data streams. Furthermore, the user is able to create a visual representation of the structure forming a functional network which may be dynamically updated as new data is added or functions switched in or out. Because, inter alia, the network structure dynamically responds to information as it is presented to the network, the visual representation of the network conveniently provides the user with information concerning the characteristics of the database or stream of data that are substantially unavailable through conventional search, filtering, or clustering techniques alone.

The present invention is a method and system for automatically analyzing the behavior of a person and a plurality of persons in a physical space based on measurement of the trip of the person and the plurality of persons on input images. The present invention captures a plurality of input images of the person by a plurality of means for capturing images, such as cameras. The plurality of input images is processed in order to track the person in each field of view of the plurality of means for capturing images. The present invention measures the information for the trip of the person in the physical space based on the processed results from the plurality of tracks and analyzes the behavior of the person based on the trip information. The trip information can comprise coordinates of the person's position and temporal attributes, such as trip time and trip length, for the plurality of tracks. The physical space may be a retail space, and the person may be a customer in the retail space. The trip information can provide key measurements as a foundation for the behavior analysis of the customer along the entire shopping trip, from entrance to checkout, that deliver deeper insights about the customer behavior. The focus of the present invention is given to the automatic behavior analytics applications based upon the trip from the extracted video, where the exemplary behavior analysis comprises map generation as visualization of the behavior, quantitative category measurement, dominant path measurement, category correlation measurement, and category sequence measurement.

The invention discloses a system and method for constructing information-analysis-oriented knowledge maps. The system comprises a data acquisition module, a text extraction module, an entity recognition module, a semantic analysis module and an entity-relation extraction module, wherein the data acquisition module is used for carrying out cleaning and simple preprocessing on acquired data and outputting the data to the text extraction module; the text extraction module is used for carrying out data cleaning and preprocessing on structured and unstructured data and conveying clean data to the entity recognition module; the entity recognition module is used for segmenting words of a text, marking the word characteristics of the segmented words, then extracting terms and conveying extracted results to the semantic analysis module; the semantic analysis module is used for analyzing and extracting relation among bodies, generating a semantic metadata model by a body construction tool and outputting the semantic metadata model to the entity-relation extraction module; and the entity-relation extraction module is used for finally generating knowledge map language by extracting taxonomic relation and non-taxonomic relation. The system and method disclosed by the invention have the advantages that by combination of syntactic training and association rules, not only are external input and artificial intervention reduced, but also the entity relation can be continuously recognized.
