Abstract

The present invention relates to role-based user interfaces. A role-based graphical user interface (UI) is used to receive user input for project / task related input / editing using a limited display device. Functional components are grouped into logical hubs that can be displayed within the user interface. The grouping of components is based on the user's role (for example, project manager, project participant, contractor...). For example, for one or more users, a role-based graphical UI can group together the following components: expense entry and approval, time entry and approval, notification messages, information collaboration (e.g., documents, project information, etc.), reporting, and set up. After selecting one of the components from the role-based UI, the user can use the displayed components for interacting with functionality (eg, entering expenses, time entry...). The UI is configured to allow navigation between the different functions included within the logical hub.
