Abstract

Systems and methods for customizing the display of a set of data using a preference stack interface are described. The preference stack interface allows a user to interact with an ordered list of criterion objects. Each criterion object corresponds to an attribute of the data set to be presented to the user. In response to a change in the order of the criterion objects in the preference stack, a rendering of the dataset can be updated to differently and visually emphasize items according to which criterion objects each item meets.

Description

[0001] Related applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 346,186, filed May 19, 2010, entitled "Preference Stack," which application is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to graphical user interfaces and to systems and methods for providing enhanced searching, filtering and display of plural data sets in graphical user interfaces. Background of the invention [0004] It can be especially challenging for users to find relevant data in large databases that include large amounts of information, such as geographic information system (GIS) databases. Developers of applications that mine data from complex data stores strive to provide clear and concise methods and interfaces for searching these complex databases. [0005] For example, returning to the GIS embodiment, a GIS database may be configured to manage plural datasets related to geographic location...
