Seed shell selection, pure species identification and gonadal maturation: In June 2010, 100 healthy, undamaged 1-year-old oysters were selected as seed shells from Shantou and Qingdao respectively. The results showed that the oysters cultured in Qingdao were Pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas gigas, referred to as G), and the oysters cultured in Shantou were Portuguese oysters (Crassostrea gigas angulata , referred to as A), both belong to the species of Pacific oyster, both are pure species, but belong to different subspecies.
