Abstract

The present invention relates to an engine oil level monitoring system and method, in particular, an oil monitoring system includes a level module, a limit module and a remedial measure module. The level module is configured to determine N oil levels of an engine of the vehicle, where N is an integer greater than one. The limit module is configured to determine an oil level trend based on the N oil levels and to estimate when the oil level in the engine will exceed a predetermined range based on the oil level trend. The remedial action module is configured to perform remedial action based on an estimate of when the oil level will exceed a predetermined range.
