Abstract

The invention discloses a repeated data deleting method and system; the method comprises the following steps that (a) meta data and a plurality of data blocks which correspond to at least one piece of original data which is obtained through the repeated data deleting method are obtained; (b) the obtained data blocks are combined into a new data object; (c) the repeated data of the new data object is deleted, and new meta data and new data blocks which correspond to the new data object are obtained; and (d) the meta data which corresponds to at least one original data object as well as the new meta data and the new data blocks which correspond to the new data object are stored. According to the method and the system, the deletion rate of the repeated data can be further improved, so that the amount of stored data is further reduced, and the storage cost is also reduced.
