The present invention relates to testing equipment and methods for testing gearboxes. The test equipment comprises: a gear system (101) capable of being connected to the input and output shafts of the gearbox under test (115); at least one drive motor (104, 105) for driving the gear system and the gearbox under test; means (106, 107, 108) for applying a test torque to the gearbox under test; and at least two transmission shafts (109, 110) in communication with the gear system and The gearboxes under test together form at least two closed mechanical power circuits.
