[0037] The protocol for this study and the acquisition of tissue samples were approved by the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of the Second Military Medical University, Shanghai, China. Glioma tissue samples were derived from previously collected patient tissue samples from patients with glioma who underwent surgery in the Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital between January 1999 and December 2008. Normal brain tissue samples were obtained from patients with severe brain trauma in which part of the normal brain tissue had to be removed to relieve intracranial pressure. These patients or their legal representatives had signed written informed consent for surgical treatment and allowed us to use the resected tissue samples.
