The disclosed VAD techniques can be used to improve the accuracy and reliability of voice detection, and thus, improvements depend on VAD functions such as noise reduction, echo cancellation, rate coding, and the like. This improvement can be achieved, for example, by using VAD information that can be provided from one or more separate devices. VAD information can be generated using multiple microphones or other sensor modalities to provide a more accurate voice activity detector.
