The method includes the steps of (1) enabling an OLT and ONUs to transmit MPCP data frames to each other so as to complete ONU registration, (2) enabling the OLT to record the state information of the ONU, forming a state list, conducting periodic detection, (3) storing downlink data frames from an SNI and uplink data frames from the ONUs in a local buffer at the OLT end, (4) designing a time slot assignment scheme according to the relation among the downlink data frame length, the uplink data frame length and a preset threshold value, (5) calculating a next circulation training period, the next sleeping time and the next wake-up time of the ONUs according to a time slot, (6) enabling the OLT to assemble a new GATE authorization frame, sending the new GATE authorization frame to the ONUs in a broadcasting mode, (7) enabling the OLT and the ONUs to carry out communication until REPORT frames from all ONUs are received, and (8) enabling the OLT to update a local state list.
