The method comprises the following steps: the access point retains the data of an association request frame after receiving the association request frame from a terminal; the access point uploads retained information to the network management equipment; the network management equipment receives and stores the retained information uploaded by the access point; the network management equipment receives a failure positioning request, searches for the retained information related to failure information, and transmits the retained information to the failure positioning equipment, so that the failure positioning equipment can perform failure positioning in reference with the retained information. By adopting the scheme, the related information is retained when association between the terminal and the access point is initiated, and can be retained even though the terminal finally fails to be associated with a network, and the retained information is uploaded to the network management equipment to enable the network management equipment to provide the related retained information for the failure positioning equipment as reference information for failure positioning, so that a failure can be positioned for the terminal which fails to be associated with the network.
