The method and apparatus includes a merger configured to merge a plurality of unused regions to form a merged display region based on a determination of a difference between an aspect ratio of the generated display and an aspect ratio of the first content. The method and apparatus merge a plurality of unused regions to generate an output video signal having the merged region and a first content region associated with a first content. A merger merges the plurality of unused regions by at least partially moving the first content region toward at least one edge of the output video signal. The plurality of unused regions is merged by scaling down the size of the first content region associated with the first content.
