Embodiment Construction

[0046] Unless an intention to the contrary appears, where steps and / or features are referenced with the same number in any one or more figures, those steps have the same function or operation as described herein.

[0047] Figure 1A and 1B Shown is a urinal deodorant cartridge assembly 10 formed from two parts - an outer body (shell in this embodiment) 200 and an insert 300 . The insert 300 is configured to hold the deodorizing block 110 .

[0048] Shell 200 is a substantially hollow dome-shaped structure, preferably fabricated from a non-corrosive plastic material, such as polyurethane, polyethylene, etc. suitable for injection molding. In a specific embodiment, the plastic material is biodegradable, such as polyester, polyanhydride, etc. suitable for injection molding. Shell 200 may be formed by any of several manufacturing techniques, including injection molding and laser cutting, or a combination of the techniques.

Abstract

A urinal deodorant cartridge assembly (100) is provided. The assembly includes an outer body (200) sized to be placed in a urinal and an insert (300) configured to be inserted into and removably retained in the outer body (200) (200), and keep the deodorizing block (110). The assembly (100) is adapted to allow contact between urinal liquid and the deodorising block (110) through the bottom of the insert (300), which bottom can be arranged so as to contact the surface of the urinal. A device configured for placement in a urinal and retaining a urinal deodorant cartridge (100) assembly is also provided.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the deodorization and treatment of urine in urinals and, in particular, to cartridges for such purposes. Background technique [0002] Both flush urinals and waterless urinals are commonly known and used. Flush urinals are considered expensive due to wasted water and water treatment costs. Waterless urinals are becoming popular due to reduced water consumption and losses. Flush urinals can be converted to waterless urinals, but at a higher cost. [0003] Waterless urinals typically use a one-way valve that opens when urine is present to allow urine to flow to the waste trap. The valve is then closed to prevent urine odors from developing in the bathroom area. However, the smell of urine often persists in bathrooms where waterless urinals are used. Cartridges containing disinfectants and / or perfumes are widely used to mask the smell, but rarely completely. The cartridge is usually placed in the urinal, ov...
