The scroll compressor possesses a rotary vortex-plate and the fixing vortex-plate, the rotary vortex-plate possesses a runner plate and a rotary winding plate arranged on the runner plate, and carries out the rotary movement. The fixing vortex-plate possesses the runner plate and a fixing winding plate arranged on the runner plate, under the state that the two winding plates are meshed with each other, the rotary vortex-plate does not revolve on its axis but does rotary movement, so that a compression chamber is formed between the two vortex-plates. The scroll compressor is characterized in that in the area close to periphery of the winding plate, the gap between the two side surfaces of the two winding plates forming the compression chamber is set to be greater than a central area of the winding plates, and the distance from the center of the fixing winding plate to the outermost periphery part close to the central area of the winding plate at the inner line side of the fixing winding plate, namely, the distance for fixing the central outermost part of the inner line side is roughly equal to the distance from the center of the fixing winding plate to the outer line side of the fixing winding plate for fixing the central outermost part of the fixing outer line side.
