The performance statistics system comprises a line card performance statistics module, an ONU statistics switch module and an ONU performance statistics module. The line card performance statistics module is used for detecting the plugging and authorization states of an ONU unit, wherein for the anauthorized ONU unit, the ONU statistics switch module is stopped; for the plugged and authorized ONU unit, the line card performance statistics module is used for setting configuration information of the ONU unit, and the ONU statistics switch module is started. The ONU statistics switch module is detected, wherein if the ONU statistics switch module is started, the ONU performance statistics module reports statistics data; if the ONU statistics switch module is stopped, the ONU performance statistics module does not report the statistics data. Finally, the performance statistics process is carried out on all the reported statistics data.
