In one aspect, the present invention is generally directed to devices and methods for receiving or extracting blood from a subject, e.g., from the skin and/or from beneath the skin, using devices containing a fluid transporter (for example, one or more microneedles), and a storage chamber having an internal pressure less than atmospheric pressure prior to receiving blood. The device, or a portion thereof, may then be processed to determine the blood and/or an analyte within the blood, alone or with an external apparatus. In another aspect, the present invention is generally directed to arrangements of skin insertion objects such as microneedles and methods of forming and arranging skin insertion objects. A vehicle localization is obtained by comparing real time depth map acquired by a sensor associated to the vehicle to a depth map associated to a digital map. The depth maps are indicative of an environment around the vehicle. Longitudinal and lateral offsets of the vehicle with respect to the digital map are determined. The invention further extends to methods and systems for the generation of localisation reference data associated with a digital map.

This invention relates to a method for producing components with internal architectures, and more particularly, this invention relates to a method for producing structures with microchannels via the use of diffusion bonding of stacked laminates. Specifically, the method involves weakly bonding a stack of laminates forming internal voids and channels with a first generally low uniaxial pressure and first temperature such that bonding at least between the asperites of opposing laminates occurs and pores are isolated in interfacial contact areas, followed by a second generally higher isostatic pressure and second temperature for final bonding. The method thereby allows fabrication of micro-channel devices such as heat exchangers, recuperators, heat-pumps, chemical separators, chemical reactors, fuel processing units, and combustors without limitation on the fin aspect ratio.

Apparatus and methods for delivery of air-borne materials from pulsatile delivery devices by passing the emissions from such devices and air in a coaxial manner through a suitable mixing chamber. Preferred apparatus include a chamber defining an axis of air flow, a plurality of pulsatile delivery devices, an actuator in communication with the devices for selective actuation thereof, and a device for introducing air at a first end of the chamber and for flowing that air substantially along the axis. The method comprises generating a linear combination of components and component weights in which values for each component are determined from data generated from a plurality of training samples, each training sample having a known feature. A model is defined for the probability distribution of a feature wherein the model is conditional on the linear combination and wherein the model is not a combination of a binomial distribution for a two class response with a probit function linking the linear combination and the expectation of the response. A prior distribution is constructed for the component weights of the linear combination comprising a hyperprior having a high probability density close to zero, and the prior distribution and the model are combined to generate a posterior distribution. A subset of components is identified having component weights that maximise the posterior distribution.

A display device for presenting product in a hanging orientation includes a plurality of hanging locations spaced apart from each other both laterally and longitudinally. The longitudinal spacing of the hanging locations provides for a layered display of product, while the lateral spacing of the hanging locations provides for the arrangement of products of varying sizes. In some embodiments, the hanging locations are also spaced apart from each other vertically. The vertical spacing of the hanging locations provides for a cascading display of product. The display device is designed to be coupled to and supported by a display fixture.

Detectors determine the presence of valid sinusoids for DTMF, MF-R1 and MF-R2 protocols for encoding dialed digits. The detectors split electrical signals into subbands. Energies within the subbands are analyzed to determine a presence of sinusoids corresponding to frequencies of dialed digits. In one embodiment, the detectors comprise a PS-IIR filter to split the electrical signal into the subbands. The detectors further comprise at least one bank of filters, such as notch filters, corresponding to the number of possible relevant frequencies within the respective subbands. The detectors further comprise detection logic comprising tests, which may include analyzing the output(s) from the bank of filters. Optionally, a preclassifier is employed to predetermine which filters in the banks of filters are to be executed. The detectors, typically deployed in digital signal processors, allow for an increase in the density of detectors and provide robust performance in talk-off situations.
