Abstract

The present invention discloses a vehicle equipment controller for operating equipment installed in a vehicle. A vehicle device controller and method for operating a device installed in a vehicle is capable of operating the device by arranging electrodes with an elastic material therebetween on a steering wheel and utilizing a variation in capacitance due to a driver's grip pressure . A vehicle device controller for operating a device installed in a vehicle may include an electrode provided on a steering wheel and causing capacitance to change according to a driver's grip pressure. A capacitance detector detects the capacitance of the electrodes associated with the electrodes, and a signal processor analyzes the manner of the driver's grip pressure based on a change in the capacitance detected by the capacitance detector, and corresponds to the grip force of the driver. The way of pressure generates the operating signal. The device operator operates a corresponding function of the operation target device in response to the operation signal from the signal processor.
