Abstract

A computing device includes a processor, is operative on a plurality of constraints associated with a component, and integrates the constraints with a design optimization methodology across multiple variables including additive manufacturing constraints to generate a specification for the component. Background technique [0003] Additive manufacturing (AM) has been studied over the past two decades and is currently receiving a lot of attention. Various printing techniques, such as three-dimensional or 3D printing techniques, have been used to produce components. For example, sheet welding, wire welding, melting in a powder bed or powder deposition via laser and electron beam melting, and infusion with powder have all been used.
