Embodiment Construction

[0036] The distribution of the most reliable and least reliable bits across code blocks is influenced by the redundancy version parameter over which the base station has control. Accordingly, embodiments herein relate to dynamically selecting redundancy version parameters to achieve a uniform or minimally non-uniform reliability distribution of soft bits depending on the selected transport format. Since the dynamic selection of the redundancy version parameter will affect the receiver performance for that code block, in some embodiments the base station also modifies the transport format lookup table to reflect the improvement from selecting the best redundancy version parameter. The selection of the redundancy version parameter can be used to also optimize the block error rate (BLER) performance of the transport block during the first transmission, wherein the optimal value of the redundancy version parameter depends on the transport block. Dynamic selection in this context r...

Abstract

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a base station (101) for transmitting a transport block to a user equipment (105) in a communications network (100). The transport block comprises a plurality of bits. The base station (101) selects (203a, 203b, 401) a transport format. The base station (101) dynamically selects (204a, 203b, 402) a first redundancy version parameter based on a decoding performance for the transport block. The base station (101) transmits (205a, 204b, 404) the transport block comprising the plurality of bits distributed according to the dynamically selected first redundancy version parameter and according to the selected transport format in a first transmission to the user equipment (105).

Description

technical field [0001] In general, embodiments herein relate to base stations and methods in base stations. [0002] More specifically, embodiments herein relate to the transmission of transport blocks from a base station to user equipment in a communication network. Background technique [0003] In a typical cellular network (also referred to as a communication system or communication network), one or more user equipments (UEs) communicate with a core network (CN) via a radio access network (RA). [0004] A user equipment is a mobile terminal through which a subscriber can access services provided by the operator's core network as well as services outside the operator's network to which the operator's radio access network and core network provide access. The user equipment may be, for example, a communication device, such as a mobile phone, cellular phone, smart phone, tablet computer or laptop with wireless capabilities. A user equipment may be a portable, pocket, hand-h...
