Abstract

Aspects disclosed herein relate to providing peer-to-peer communication between NFC-enabled devices using an active communication mode. In one example, a communications device is configured to: detect a field of remote NFC devices within an operational range; use an active communication mode to establish a peer-to-peer communications link with the remote NFC device; determine to deselect the peer and, while maintaining the peer-to-peer communication link, sending a deselection request message to the remote NFC device, the deselection request message indicating to the remote NFC device that it has been deselected. In another example, a communication device is configured to: sense an operating range as part of an active communication mode collision avoidance procedure; determine that no field is sensed; and initiate an unmodulated carrier; and maintaining the unmodulated carrier for a collision avoidance threshold duration.
