Embodiment Construction

[0013] The present invention may be better understood by reading the following description of non-limiting, exemplary embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which like parts are identified in each figure by the same reference characters.

[0014] The present invention relates to systems for removing heat from heat-generating electrical equipment housed in a sealed enclosure, such as a sealed junction box for a high voltage solar system. These systems may include one or more mechanical heat pumps defining a channel extending through the sealed enclosure, wherein air flows through the channel to remove heat from the sealed enclosure. The term "electrical equipment" includes any electronic device, circuit element or electrical conductor (such as a wire or an electrical connector). By way of example only, electrical equipment may include conductors, combiners, switches, controls, fuses, fuse holders, power distribution modules, terminal blocks, and the like. ...

Abstract

A system for transferring heat from an electrical enclosure is provided. The electrical enclosure defines a housing area in which one or more electrical devices are housed. A heat pump extends through the electrical enclosure, and defines a channel configured to communicate fluid for transferring heat from the one or more electrical devices. The electrical enclosure is substantially sealed from the heat pump channel and from other areas outside the electrical enclosure.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application generally relates to systems and methods for removing heat from heat-generating electrical equipment in electrical enclosures (eg, junction boxes). Background technique [0002] Electrical equipment such as conductors, combiners, switches, controls, fuses, fuse holders, power distribution blocks, and terminal blocks generate heat that must be dissipated to regulate the temperature of these equipment and surrounding components or structures. Electrical equipment can be housed in various types of housings or enclosures. Some electrical equipment housings have at least one open face, or have distinct openings, to allow heat to be removed from the electrical equipment by airflow through the housing and over the surfaces of the electrical equipment. Other electrical equipment housings are mostly closed and in some cases sealed against the surrounding environment. For example, the electrical components of a high voltage, high curren...
