Problems solved by technology

Filling of containers often involves guesswork based on visual acuity, which can lead to inconsistencies at best, and is not possible at all when containers are constructed of opaque materials that make precise visual perception of liquid levels impossible. visual acuity guesswork

Embodiment Construction

[0043] now refer to figure 1 , figure 1 One embodiment of a fluid handling device is shown in the form of a container 10 for containing fluid, eg for treatment purposes. Container 10 includes an overwrap 12 having an upper end including an upper wall 12a, one or more side walls 12b (four shown), and a base including a lower wall 12c. These walls 12a, 12b, 12c together define an interior space suitable for receiving an at least partially flexible fluid container, such as bag 14, which may be shaped to generally match the configuration of the interior space (e.g., a cube for a cuboid interior space). bag). Thus, the outer wrapper 12 serves to hold the container in place in use and also protects the container from external disturbances, thereby helping to avoid perforation thereof, and maintaining sterility if necessary.

Abstract

A device (10) accommodates an at least partially flexible receptacle (14) adapted to contain a fluid. The apparatus (10) may include an outer package (12) and a partition (16) removably positioned within the interior of the outer package (12). The divider (16) may extend generally perpendicular to the side walls (12b) and generally align with the bottom surface (12c) of the outer packaging (12) to form a compartment for receiving the receptacle (14). The partition (16) may also form part of the carrier (17) for the container (14). A filling station for filling containers (10), and related methods are also disclosed.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority from US Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 648,986, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to the field of fluid treatment, and more particularly to containers for treating fluids, systems for treating fluids, and related fluid treatment methods. Background technique [0004] Fluid handling applications typically employ one or more disposable containers to receive and contain fluid, at least temporarily, during handling operations. For example, during bioprocessing, airtight containers (commonly known as "bags") formed of flexible plastic films are typically used under aseptic conditions for fluid storage, cell culture resuspension, virus inactivation, final formulation, final Filling, and in other fields including bioreactors. [0005] While such containers have overwhelming acceptance in the ma...
