Embodiment Construction

[0029] figure 1 A medical instrument 10 for feeding an electrosurgical instrument 11 acting on biological tissue is illustrated. The instrument 11 may be an instrument used in laparotomy for laparoscopy or also for endoscopy, for example a so-called probe. In particular, instrument 11 may be an argon plasma coagulation probe.

[0030] The current introduced into the biological tissue by means of the instrument 11 is returned to the instrument 10 via the neutral electrode arrangement 12 . The neutral electrode arrangement 12 comprises two or more electrode patches 13 , 14 which belong to or are connected to the neutral conductor cable 15 . A neutral conductor cable 15 establishes a flexible connection between the neutral electrode arrangement 12 and the instrument 10 . At the end of the neutral conductor cable 15 on the instrument side, the neutral conductor cable 15 comprises a connector 16 for insertion into a neutral socket 17 of the instrument 10 .

Abstract

An instrument test arrangement is specified, which is preferably equipped for medical instruments for argon plasma coagulation. The instrument test arrangement comprises an electrode arrangement, comprising at least one test electrode. In a preferred embodiment, a test electrode is thereby connected to two neutral conductors of a neutral conductor cable or device, wherein the neutral conductors are insulated from one another, and wherein the first coupling impedance between the test electrode and the first neutral conductor and the second coupling impedance between the test electrode and the second neutral conductor are equal or at most slightly different, so that a split circuit, which is assigned to a neutral electrode arrangement, does not trigger due to the strike of a test spark or arc.

Description

field of invention [0001] The invention relates to an instrument testing device, in particular to an instrument testing device for medical instruments used for argon plasma coagulation. Background of the invention [0002] The location where metal parts of operating room equipment are used for routine surgery does not allow users to test the spark strike capability of coagulation instruments. Performing such tests on any metal part that is connected to the neutral electrode by some conductance or capacitance may cause injury to the patient and personnel and may cause damage to electrical and electronic equipment. [0003] Argon plasma coagulation instruments are fed through an RF (radio frequency) generator to generate sparks. Before using a coagulated device on a patient, it is often desirable to test the operability of the coagulated device, in particular its spar impact ability to generate test sparks. [0004] EP1764057A1 discloses an adapter plug which is inserted int...
