Abstract

The invention relates to a variable twin scroll turbine for a turbocharged internal combustion engine with a cylinder deactivation feature. An internal combustion engine defines a plurality of cylinders, including cylinders that are active all the time and cylinders that can be deactivated. A turbocharger with twin scroll turbines includes a first turbine scroll in communication with the exhaust passage from a cylinder that is active at all times and a second turbine scroll in communication with the exhaust passage from a cylinder that can be deactivated.
