Problems solved by technology

In some cases, a connection to a cellular network may be available, however, due to low-bandwidth connections or high-latency connections or both when the payload requires high data rates or low is not optimal for the payload of the data transmitted by the device
In either case, connectivity issues with cellular networks may be specific to cellular-enabled endpoint devices

Embodiment Construction

[0014] Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system for overcoming data constraints in a cellular network by a node of a mesh network connected to the cellular network that determines whether to utilize other nodes in the mesh network to transmit data to the cellular network and methods.

[0015] figure 1 is a diagram of a system 100 including a mesh network configured to communicate with a cellular network, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. exist figure 1 In , multiple nodes 101 are arranged in one or more local area networks (LANs) 102 . exist figure 1 In the example of , nodes N-1 to N-9 are arranged in LAN 1 , nodes N-7 to N-15 are arranged in LAN 2 , and nodes N-13 to N-21 are arranged in LAN 3 . As shown, some of the nodes may be members of more than one LAN. For example, nodes N-7 to N-9 are members of LAN 1 and LAN 2, and nodes N-13 to N-15 are members of LAN 2 and LAN 3. figure 1 Each of the LANs 102 shown is an ...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to mesh network nodes configured to alleviate congestion in a cellular network. The plurality of nodes in the first network reduces data constraints on an access point that is an interface between the first network and the second network. The access points advertise their access parameters to the second network to the nodes. The node maintains a list of the advertised access parameters for each access point. The node determines whether to transmit the data to the second network according to the first transmission mode or the second transmission mode based on the data to be transmitted and a list of access parameters maintained by the node. In the first transfer mode, the node determines to transfer data to the first access point that has the lowest cost with the node, and in the second transfer mode, the node determines to transfer data to the first access point that has fewer calls than the first access point. The second access point of the access constraint of the second network transmits the data.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application No. 61 / 875,762, filed September 10, 2013, the entire disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to systems including mesh networks operating in conjunction with wide area cellular networks, to nodes in mesh networks configured to alleviate congestion in cellular networks, and to methods of avoiding congestion in cellular networks . Background technique [0004] In view of the increasing amount of machine type communication (MTC) traffic and the limited frequency available, cellular network providers (hereinafter, "cellular providers") have implemented congestion mitigation techniques such as (i) access class barring , (ii) extended access restrictions and (iii) low access priority indications that prevent or restrict cellular-enabled endpoint devices from accessing the cellular network to transfer data. In ...
