The method comprises the following steps: determining a label corresponding to a certain video, which is any one of all videos; calculating the number of the videos corresponding to a certain label in the labels, wherein a certain label is any one of the labels; calculating the inverse file frequency of a certain label in the labels corresponding to all the videos; calculating the video playing time of a certain video within a pre-set time slot; calculating a channel generating score of a certain label according to the number of the videos corresponding to a certain label, the inverse file frequency of a certain label in the labels corresponding to all the videos and the video playing time of a certain video within the pre-set time slot; and generating the channel by utilizing a certain label when the channel generating score of a certain label is up to a pre-set threshold value. By adopting the technical scheme provided by the invention, the channel highly satisfying user requirements can be automatically added; and thus, the method and the device are adaptive to variety requirements of users.
