Abstract

A method and system are disclosed for managing the shipment of items using a network of wireless nodes having at least one ID node, a plurality of master nodes, and a server. The server receives the registration ID node and the item's shipment information. The ID node can be associated with the first primary node prior to picking, where the association information is sent to the server. An ID node may disassociate from a first master node when its predicted path traveled along the item and ID node is associated with another master node. Disassociation / association information is reported to the server which tracks ID node associations and locations. The ID-node may disassociate from the second primary node when its predicted path along the item and the ID-node travels is associated with the last primary node and after the item's detachment event.
