Embodiment Construction

[0029]Sample cells and gas analysis methods according to the description herein can be used in conjunction with a variety of spectroscopic methods and systems. In some embodiments of the present subject matter, can be combined with an enclosure configured as a tubular enclosure, an optical waveguide enclosure, a prism enclosure, a Pfund cell, a White cell, a Herriott cell, or any of those Variations or combinations of cells or enclosures for use with Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) Analyzers, Tunable Quantum Cascade Laser (TQCL) Analyzers, Tunable Interband Cascade Laser (TICL) Analyzers, Raman Spectroscopy Analyzers etc. The sample cell can include one or more ports for entry and exit of sample gas contained at least partially within the sample cell into and out of the radiation path (eg, beam). The light beam interacts with the sample gas, causing absorption, scattering or emission of radiation which can be quantified by one or more detectors. The beam path through the sample ga...

Abstract

A sample cell can be designed to minimize excess gas volume. Described features can be advantageous in reducing an amount of gas required to flow through the sample cell during spectroscopic measurements, and in reducing a time (e.g. a total volume of gas) required to flush the cell between sampling events. In some examples, contours of the inners surfaces of the sample cell that contact the contained gas can be shaped, dimensioned, etc. such that a maximum clearance distance is provided between the inner surfaces at one or more locations. Systems, methods, and articles, etc. are described.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Utility Application No. 14 / 073,711, filed November 6, 2013, entitled "Reduced Volume Spectroscopic Sample Cell," the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The subject matter disclosed herein relates to spectroscopic analysis, eg, for the detection, quantification, etc. of one or more analyte compounds. Background technique [0004] Spectral analysis essentially relies primarily on the detection and quantification of the emission, absorption or scattering of radiation. In gas-phase spectroscopy, emission, absorption, or scattering of radiation occurs by individual molecules of one or more compounds present along the radiation path between a radiation source and a detector. At least some of the radiation emitted along the path can be absorbed or scattered, or other radiation can be emitted by molecules in the path of the r...
