Embodiment Construction

[0054] exist figure 1 An embodiment of the inventive image processing system 1 is shown in . The image processing system 1 comprises an image input unit 10 which in turn comprises a first camera 11 and a second camera 12 for simultaneously capturing a first image and a second image. Alternatively, the image input unit 10 may comprise only a single camera for successively capturing the first and second images and possibly further images. Furthermore, the image processing system need not include any cameras at all. The image input unit 10 in this case is only an interface for inputting pre-recorded images. Connected to the image input unit is an image processing unit 20 , and connected to the image cell processing unit 20 is a high dynamic range calculator 80 . The image supplied by the image input unit 10 is processed by the image processing unit 20 . Figure 2 to Figure 4 Details about the image processing unit 20 are shown in . The resulting reference image and at least ...

Abstract

An image processing system is used for the purpose of generating a high dynamic range image from a first image and a second image. The system includes a first displacement estimator (22) for estimating a displacement of image content between a reference image derived from the first image and an image to be warped derived from the second image. Furthermore, the system comprises a first warping unit (23) for compensating the estimated displacement by warping the image to be warped to obtain a first warped image. Additionally, the system includes: a first error detector (24) for detecting geometric distortion errors within the first warped image; and a first error compensator (25) for compensating the first warped image The estimated geometric distortion error within is obtained to obtain a first error-corrected image. The system also includes a high dynamic range calculator for calculating the high dynamic range image based on the first error corrected image and the reference image.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an image processing system and image processing method for generating a high dynamic range image from at least two input images. [0002] In particular, the present invention relates to a system and method for processing input images prior to performing high dynamic range image computations. Background technique [0003] In many applications related to computer vision and computational photography, the topic of image registration plays a central role, precisely when there is a need to align pixels of one image with corresponding pixels in another image (depicting the same point in the captured scene). The described technique is used when correlating pixels. [0004] The problem of matching pixels in different images is quite common in computer vision applications based on extracting information from multiple images in order to improve their quality or detect the geometry of a scene. In this regard, typical challenges ...
