Embodiment Construction

[0025] Exemplary embodiments of the disclosed surgical systems and associated methods of use are discussed in connection with medical devices for treating musculoskeletal disorders, and more particularly in connection with surgical systems for delivering implants to surgical sites and for treating A spinal approach is discussed that employs one or more surgical pathways that may be used. In one embodiment, the systems and methods of the present disclosure are used for spinal arthrodesis (eg, with the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and / or sacral regions of the spine). In one embodiment, an implant is disclosed for performing spinal arthrodesis from an oblique lateral surgical approach at a selected inclination to a patient's medial surface or from an anterolateral surgical approach. In one embodiment, the implant includes an interbody device, a plate, and / or a bone fastener. In one embodiment, the implant is used in an instrument guide configured for an oblique lateral surgical a...

Abstract

A spinal implant comprises an implant body extending between an anterior surface and a posterior surface, and including a first vertebral engaging surface and a second vertebral engaging surface. The implant body further including an inner surface that defines at least a first cavity and a second cavity spaced from the first cavity. The first cavity is oriented to implant a fastener oblique relative to a bilateral axis of a subject body. The second cavity is oriented to implant a fastener in substantial alignment with the bilateral axis. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices for treating musculoskeletal disorders, and more particularly to surgical systems and methods for treating the spine, which may be used in conjunction with one or more surgical accesses for accessing surgical sites near the spine. Background technique [0002] Spinal disorders and diseases such as scoliosis and other curvature abnormalities, kyphosis, degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, osteoporosis, spondylolisthesis, stenosis, tumors and fractures can result from injuries and aging including trauma, disease and degenerative disease factors. Disorders of the spine often result in symptoms including deformation, pain, nerve damage and partial or complete loss of mobility. [0003] Nonsurgical treatments such as medications, rehabilitation, and exercise may be effective but may not relieve symptoms associated with these disorders. Surgical treatments for these spinal conditions includ...
