Abstract

A track pad (20) is disclosed for use for a track type mobile machine (10) having a sprocket (18) and an idler wheel (24). The track pad (20) may have a first link (28) with a rail surface (36) configured to engage the sprocket (18) and the idler wheel (24), and a second link (28) oriented generally parallel with the first link (28) and having a rail surface (36) configured to engage the sprocket (18) and the idler wheel (24). The track pad (20) may also have a shoe (38) connected to the first and second links (28) at a side opposite the rail surfaces (36), and a wear indicator (46) formed within the rail surface (36) of at least one of the first and second links (28).

Background technique [0002] Tracked mobile machines propel the machine using tracks located on either side of the machine. A track consists of chains with links pinned end-to-end to form a loop extending around a drive sprocket and one or more idler pulleys, and ground engaging elements called track shoes connected to each pair of links in the chain. Track shoes together with a pair of links are called track pads. In some configurations, the track pads are a single unitary component. The sprocket is driven by the machine's engine to turn the chain and push the track pads against the working surface, thereby transferring torque from the engine to the surface opposite the desired direction of travel of the machine.
