Abstract

The invention provides a series battery group equalization system and its method. The system comprises a series battery group consisting of n individual batteries (BT1-BTn) in serial connection. Each battery group is provided with n-1 power units (P1-Pn-1) and an equalization point. The equalization points of the plurality of battery groups are connected to an equalization center through a communication bus. The positive input end and the negative input end of the ith power unit (Pi) are connected respectively with the anode of the (i+1)th individual battery (BTi+1) and the cathode of the ith individual battery (BTi). The positive output end and the negative output end of the ith power unit (Pi) are connected respectively with the anode and the cathode of the ith individual battery wherein i is a positive integer greater than n and n is also a positive integer. With the system and the method, the management to a battery group is increased; the in-equalization of voltage among the individual batteries in the battery group is reduced; and therefore, the service lifetime of the battery group is increased greatly.
