Problems solved by technology

A pre-filled purely mechanical device would be discarded after being emptied, and is therefore cheap, making it not cost effective to embed electronic data capture functionality in the device itself

[0157] The inputs for the mobile criteria are the following:

[0158] phi stable (start) = 30°

[0159] phi stable (end) = 210°

[0160] phiTA = 195°

[0161] Δphi stable = 180°

[0162] Estimate the amount of rotation by:

[0163] phi remainder (phiReminder) = phiTA – Δphi stable

[0164] phi remainder = 195°- 180°

[0165] phi remainder = 15°

[0166] N = rounding (phi remainder / 360°)

[0167] N = rounded (0.04)

[0168] N = 0

[0169] Dose size (unit: degrees):

[0170] Dose size Phi (doseSizePhi) = Δphi stable + N * 360°

[0171] Dose size Phi = 180° + 0 * 360° = 180°

[0172] Dose size (unit: IU):

[0173] Dose size IU (doseSizeIU) = rounded (dose size Phi / 15°)

[0174] Dose size IU = rounded (180° / 15°)

[0175] Dose Size IU = 12 IU

example 2

[0177] The inputs for the mobile criteria are the following:

[0178] phi stable (beginning) = 15°

[0179] phi stable (end) = 45°

[0180] phiTA =405°

[0181] Δphi stable = 30°

[0182] Estimate the amount of rotation by:

[0183] phi remainder = phiTA – Δphi stable

[0184] phi remainder =405°-30°

[0185] phi remainder = 375°

[0186] N = rounding (phi remainder / 360°)

[0187] N = rounded (1.04)

[0188] N = 1

[0189] Dose size (unit: degrees):

[0190] Dose size Phi = Δphi stable + N * 360°

[0191] Dose size Phi = 30° + 1 * 360° = 390°

[0192] Dose size (unit: IU):

[0193] Dose Size IU = Round (Dose Size Phi / 15°)

[0194] Dose size IU = rounded (390° / 15°)

[0195] Dose Size IU = 26 IU

[0196] After the dose size has been calculated, phiTA is reset.

[0197] If the high-speed algorithm is triggered, the dose size will be reported to the user.

[0198] In order to meet all criteria for a stable angle estimate, one or more of the following criteria may ...

Abstract

Add-on module (100) for logging the value of an expelled dose from a pen-type drug injector (200), comprising a magnetic sensor system comprising first and second sensor means (745 / 746) as well as a mechanical dose setting and expelling mechanism comprising a magnetic clutch element (240 / 740) which rotates during drug expelling. The system further comprises processor means configured to determine (i) on the basis of measured values from the first sensor means, a rotational position of the clutch element, (ii) on the basis of measured values from the second sensor means, a high-speed condition in which the rotational speed of the clutch element exceeds a given threshold level, and (iii) indicate an error state if the high-speed condition is detected.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to sensor systems adapted to detect rotational motion in a reliable and energy efficient manner. In a specific embodiment, the invention relates to medical devices related to the generation, acquisition and storage of data. In a particular aspect, the present invention addresses the problem of reliable detection of movement of a member indicative of operation of a drug delivery expulsion mechanism. Background technique [0002] In the present disclosure, mainly drug delivery devices are concerned, such devices being used eg in the treatment of diabetes, however, this is only an exemplary use of the present invention. [0003] Drug injection devices have greatly improved the lives of patients who must self-administer drugs and biologics. Drug injection devices can take many forms including simple disposable devices that are nothing more than ampoules with an injection mechanism, or they can be durable devices ad...
