Abstract

The invention provides an intelligent traffic monitoring system comprising an image acquisition device and a license plate recognition device. The image acquisition device is used for acquiring a monitoring image. The license plate recognition device is used for recognizing a license plate in the monitoring image. The license plate recognition device comprises a preprocessing module, a positioning module, a segmentation module and a recognition module. The preprocessing module is used for preprocessing the monitoring image. The positioning module is used for detecting the edge of the license plate in the preprocessed monitoring image, acquiring a license plate area, and getting a license plate image. The segmentation module is used for segmenting the characters of the license plate image. The recognition module is used for matching the characters of the license plate image with character templates to complete license plate recognition. The beneficial effects are as follows: effective license plate recognition is realized; and the monitoring capability of the intelligent traffic monitoring system is improved.
