Embodiment Construction

[0029] The present invention provides a science-based data-driven decision support system and method for innovative entities (e.g., individuals, corporate entities, government agencies, states, countries, multinational regions, etc.) Innovation opportunities, exploring long-term innovation directions, etc. Innovation is not a single effort, but a process of searching in a hybrid space of various technologies. The structure of the space and the position of the innovative entity in the space can determine its future prospects and paths. A technology system can typically include: a network map of the technology domain to represent the entire technology space; and various data mining and network analysis functions to locate, measure and evaluate the network position of relevant innovative entities on the network map.

[0030] Beneficially, the present invention helps an innovative entity decide what technologies to focus on in the short and long term based on analysis such as the...

Abstract

There is provided a data processor implemented method for assessing an innovation entity within a network map of various technology domains as nodes. The method comprises generating and visualizing the network map; assessing and visualizing a level of strength of the innovation entity in each technology domain; and providing at least one suggestion for the innovation entity for at least two nodesof the network map. It is advantageous that the provision of the at least one suggestion is based on a weight of a link between the at least two nodes of the network map. A graphical user interface enabling the method is also provided.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the invention relate to a data-driven decision support system and method. Background technique [0002] Currently, the knowledge-based economy that prevails in many developed countries requires continuous innovation, whether by individuals, for example, or by legal entities, government agencies, states, countries, multinational regions, etc. Decisions about eg what to innovate, where to innovate, how to innovate will typically need to be made on a regular basis. In addition, decisions need to be made about which technologies to focus on or discard, which technology areas to enter, the long-term direction of innovation, etc. Currently, such decisions are often made based on the gut feeling / gut feeling / experience of the decision maker. [0003] Before making any of the foregoing decisions, however, decision makers typically use the services of "technology roadmaps" provided by consulting firms. Such a "roadmap" is typically formed using...
