Embodiment Construction

[0022] Example embodiments are described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to designate similar or equivalent elements. The order in which acts or events are shown should not be considered limiting, as some acts or events may occur in different orders and / or concurrently with other acts or events. Moreover, some of the illustrated acts or events may not be required to implement methodology in accordance with the present disclosure.

[0023] Also, the terms "coupled" or "coupled with" (etc.) as used herein without further qualifications are intended to describe either an indirect or direct electrical connection. Thus, if a first device couples to a second device, that connection may be a direct electrical connection with only parasitics in the pathway or an indirect electrical connection via intervening items including other devices and connections. For indirect coupling, intervening items generally do not change the signal's information,...

Abstract

The application discloses channel hopping aware channel access and re-transmission. Disclosed is a method (100) of channel access for a radio device in an asynchronous channel hopping wireless network. A backoff time is set (101) from an Interference Avoidance Delay plus a random backoff time for transmissions from the radio device. For initial frame transmissions, an initial value for a number ofbackoffs (nb) and initial number of preamble detection backoffs (npdb) is set. After waiting for expiring of the initial backoff time and provided a current npdb_value <a predetermined maximum npdb value, a first CCA (102) is performed on the radio device's receive (Rx) channel, and a value for npdb is incremented following a failure. A second CCA (103) is performed on a target radio device's Rxchannel, wherein a value for nb is incremented following a failure. Provided a not busy is determined (104) in the second CCA the radio device transmits a frame on the target radio device's Rx channel.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 364,227, filed July 19, 2016, entitled "Channel Hopping aware Channel Access and Retransmission Mechanism," which The entire content of is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless networks and, more particularly, to asynchronous (non-slotted) channel hopping in such networks. Background technique [0004] The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.15.4e is an enhanced Media Access Control (MAC) layer protocol of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard designed for low power and low data rate networks. The IEEE 802.15.4e architecture is defined in terms of several blocks in order to simplify the standard. These blocks are called layers. Each layer is responsible for a part of the standard and provides services to higher layers. The interfaces betwe...
