Abstract

A worm drive power tool includes a drive shaft, a worm, a sealing member and a guard. The drive shaft is configured to rotate about the axis of rotation. The worm is configured for rotation with the drive shaft. The seal member includes an inner seal defining a shaft opening through which the drive shaft extends. The inner seal extends radially away from the axis of rotation no more than a first distance. A guard is mounted on the drive shaft between the worm and the seal member. The guard extends radially away from the axis of rotation at least a second distance equal to or greater than the first distance.
