Abstract

A method for removing pollutant from an engine air cylinder on a first vacuum station is used for removing pollutant from the receiving surface of a main bearing. A second vacuum system is arranged soas remove pollutant from a main bearing cover after the main bearing cover is installed on the engine air cylinder. Vacuum is transferred through a nozzle, wherein at least one vacuum pipeline is formed on the nozzle, and the nozzle is used for sweeping pollutant through a vacuum system and provided with a semicircular surface.

Description

【Technical field】 [0001] The present application relates to methods and apparatus for removing contaminants from an engine block prior to assembly of main bearing caps, lower bearing caps, and a crankshaft to the engine block. 【Background technique】 [0002] On an engine assembly line, a large number of components are assembled into the engine block. When the crankshaft is assembled to the engine block, the upper bearing is installed in the engine block before the crankshaft and the lower bearing cap. One problem that can arise during engine assembly is that contamination of critical surfaces can adversely affect engine performance. In particular, with respect to the assembly of the upper bearings, lower bearing caps, and crankshaft to the engine block, contamination (such as bolt thread debris, metal debris, dunnage, operator glove contamination, etc.) can interfere with crankshaft clearances. After the crankshaft is installed in the engine block, it undergoes torque-to-t...
