The method comprises the following steps that: receiving a version comparison indication input by a user on the first version, which is edited at present, of the spreadsheet; according to the version comparison indication, canceling the editing of the user for the first version, and updating the first version into a second version, which is stored by a version management server at present, of the spreadsheet; determining the difference cell of the first version and the second version; and combining data in the difference cell, and submitting a combined version. Since the first version is updated into the second version before data is combined, the version number of the combined version is a second version number,the version number of the combined version is almost consistent with the version number of the version on the version management server so as to avoid the conflict of the spreadsheet, in addition, aplurality of users can carry out parallel execution, and the editing efficiency of the spreadsheet is improved.
