More specifically, the precleaners described herein can be used with filter assemblies and can extend the life of the filter media in the filter assemblies and improve overall efficiency.

Abstract

Filter precleaners for precleaning unfiltered gas mixtures. A coalescing filter consists of filter media for filtering the gas, a nozzle assembly for pre-cleaning the unfiltered gas mixture, and a lower end plate. The nozzle assembly includes a first nozzle plate upstream of the filter media. The lower end plate is located at the lower end of the filter media below the first nozzle plate. The lower end plate allows liquid to drain through the lower end plate. The unfiltered gas mixture impinges on the lower end plate, causing liquid from the unfiltered gas mixture to flow through the lower end plate and gas from the unfiltered gas mixture to flow through the filter media.
