The invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling a camera to rotate thereof, wherein the mobile terminal comprises a shell, a first mainboard, a second mainboard, a first cameraand a motor; the first mainboard and the second mainboard are positioned in the shell; the first camera is fixed on the first mainboard; the motor is fixed on the second mainboard; the second mainboard is connected with the first mainboard, and configured to receive a triggering request for switching the first camera, determine the current state of the first camera according to the triggering request, and send a rotation instruction to the motor based on the current state; and the motor is connected with the first mainboard, and configured to control the first mainboard to rotate in the pre-set direction after receiving the rotation instruction till the first camera rotates to the pre-set state. According to the embodiment of the invention, the rotation instruction is sent to the motor, so that the motor can control the first mainboard to rotate according to the rotation instruction; therefore, the first camera can be used as a front camera, and also can be used as a rear camera; a camera can be saved; and thus, the cost of the mobile terminal is reduced.
